The complete virtuous action of living in the morality abstaining from the negative karma of telling lies has four happy results:

(1) the fully ripened result: You will receive a good rebirth in the body of a happy migrator being in the human or deva realms instead of rebirth in the suffering lower realms.

(2) experiencing the result similar to the previous cause: When you are reborn in the future as a human being, you will not be criticized or cheated by others. Instead, other people will be honest with you. Again, this means that when in this life others treat you badly in these ways, reacting in anger and retaliating by harming others is not a solution. It only creates more negative karma, only creates the causes of more harm and suffering both to oneself and to others. Therefore, the ultimate answer to these problems mentioned above is to practice morality in this life, now, avoiding the negative karma of lying.

(3) the possessed result: In the place in the human realm where you are reborn in the future you will experience happiness and success. Your work will prosper, many clients and customers will come, and people will be very supportive. If you are a farmer, life will not be difficult; your success will not diminish. Similarly, if you work in transportation, you will have many passengers and will prosper. If you become a shopkeeper, a hospital or hotel worker, and so on, customers will be plenty and they will not try to cheat you. You will reside in a place where people do not cheat you, a place free of many causes of fear.

(4) creating the result similar to the previous cause of living in the morality abstaining from telling lies: In future lives you will again be able to collect good karma by living in the morality abstaining from lying. Thus, this is the cause for you to be able to stop giving harm to others and to yourself in this way.

The complete virtuous action of living in the morality abstaining from the negative karma of slander has four happy results:

(1) the fully ripened result: You will receive a good rebirth in the body of a happy migrator being in the human or deva realms instead of rebirth in the suffering lower realms.

(2) experiencing the result similar to the previous cause: You will have many friends.Everyone will be very happily united with you, in good positive friendship. People will treat you well. You will not experience disunity and division between your friends, your family, your co-workers, or your acquaintances. You will not experience having your friends and companions abandon you or drift away. People whom you meet will not be mean to you.

(3) the possessed result: When you are reborn in the human realm in the future your environment will be free of the following characteristics: being unpleasantly rough, not smooth and flat; steeply hilly; jagged, uneven, rocky terrain. The place where you reside will not be a fearful place with many causes of fear; it will be a place where people do not cheat [??? slander, criticize, malign??] you.

(4) creating the result similar to the previous cause of living in the morality abstaining from slander: In future lives you will again be able to collect good karma by living in the morality abstaining from slander. This means you will be able to stop giving harm to others and to yourself in this way.

The complete virtuous action of living in the morality abstaining from the negative karma of harsh speech has four happy results:

(1) the fully ripened result: You will receive a good rebirth in the body of a happy migrator being in the human or deva realms instead of rebirth in the suffering lower realms.

(2) experiencing the result similar to the previous cause: In the place in the human realm where you are born in the future you will not hear unpleasant words from others. Words will not be the causes of anger or fighting with others.

(3) the possessed result: The place in the human realm where you are born in the future will be a luxuriant glorious environment where there will be only beautiful mountains with lovely meadows, lakes, streams, waterfalls, flowers, plants, and trees. It will be a very happy place. Your environment will not be dry and barren like a salt desert, a desolate, thorny, rocky, depressing environment where nothing grows, filled with scorched and burned trees, rough lichen-covered rocks, scrubby bushes, and fearful places where people have done many negative actions. You will not have to experience an environment like this.

(4) creating the result similar to the previous cause of living in the morality abstaining from harsh speech: In future lives you will again be able to collect good karma by living in the morality abstaining from harsh speech. This means you will be able to stop giving harm to others and to yourself in this way.
