What is your New Year Resolution?
What I really, really want to achieve in the coming year is to be able to set aside a whole month to do a retreat and meditate. [I want to] switch off the computer and mobile phone and tune inwards to contemplate the nature of the mind. This is harder than people think so I am making a strong resolution to make this happen for me in 2010.
What are your plans for 2010?
For me, nothing really, except to stay healthy and happy and continue to benefit as many people as possible. My books, my products design work and my speaking commitments keep me very busy already. Besides, 2010 is not a good year to go out on a limb or make ambitious plans. This is a year to stay cool, keep our heads above the water and let the cycles play out; it's better to keep our balance and not take unnecessary risks. But I will continue to write as it gives me pleasure to do so and the challenge here is to come out with a book that is new, that takes a fresh perspective and that is helpful to everyone who reads it. It is great to continually challenge myself this way.
What are your hopes for the new year?
I am praying that Malaysia will come through the year better than it did in the last, with fewer conflicts and greater tolerance from everyone. The Tiger year is very challenging and there are hidden pitfalls; a great many things can go wrong but I hope everyone will come through okay. |
